Photo of the day!

Photobucket

This is the first self portrait where I have ever worked on an idea I had in my head. It was actually a lot of fine. It was taken in color but converted to black and white. I'm not too big on being in front of the camera so I put my hood over my head but I think it adds character to the shot.

It took me bout 15 minutes to set everything up and finally get everything in place and the exposure where I wanted it. I boosted the ISO just to add some "grain" to the shot for added feel to it.

Lemme know whatcha think.

Jon's theme song!

Time to take it seriously!

Ok so for bout 6-7 years now I've had a few hobbies. One being the art of PHOTOGRAPHY. This one out of all of the others is my favorite. In the past years I've done it as a hobby but now I am thinking bout taking it more seriously. I've been following a few blogs of some famous photographers and their images inspire the heck outta me.

Right now I have a pretty decent collection of equipment that doesn't limit me too much. And now I've got a friend that is into photography that knows what he is talking about that can give me constructive criticism so I can learn faster. Before all I had was myself so it has been a slow process. Everything I've learned about photography has been self taught and from reading articles and magazines.

I am currently looking into subscribing to a photo magazine but can't decide which one. My fav's have always been SHUTTERBUG and Popular PHOTOGRAPHY.

Anyways I am gonna try to actually post a good bit on this BLOG instead of just letting it go to waste like I did the past one I had. Back when LIVEJOURNAL was the coolest blog website. ha ha

Maybe even try to do a photo of the day or photo of the week.

Here is my first photo. I may try and put a small story behind the photo as to how and why I took the image and any thoughts on it.

This photo was taken because I finally got the basic but awesome Canon 50mm f.18 II lens. It is a relatively cheap lens and I got it for like $40 cheaper than retail. It is an awesome lens because it is cheap but has great Depth of Field and is a fast and sharp lens. I am having a blast using it. Gotta get used to using a prime lens but other than that I love it. In this image u can see the shallow depth of field where only a few of the letters are in focus but everything else is blurred. This shot even inspired another forum user to take one like it. Nice knowing I inspired someone to do something. ha ha
